Recent speaking engagements have included:

  • I spoke on the theme of ‘J. Louis Martyn’s Legacy for Christian Theology Today’, as part of The Drumwright Colloquium, Baylor University, Waco, TX, 13-15 October 2025.
  • I took part in a panel session engaging with my new book, God’s Adversary and Ours: A Brief Theology of the Devil, co-sponsored by the Reformed Theology and History Group at the annual meeting of the AAR / SBL in Boston, MA, November 22-25, 2025. Details of the session are here.
  • I gave a plenary address entitled, ‘Hope against Hope: The Shape of Christian Hope and Poltics’, at the meeting of the Karl Barth Tagung on the theme ‘Christliche Hoffnung in der Krise’, Basel, Switzerland, 14-17 July 2025.
  • I presented a public lecture entitled ‘They Bear a Dignity Not Their Own: Saving Grace and the Nature of Human Dignity’, to the Theology Faculty of the University of Basel, 26 March 2025.
  • I spoke on the subject of ‘Karl Barth and the Catholicity of the Church’, at a colloquy on Catholicity and Eschatology hosted by the Institute of Religion and Critical Inquiry of the Australian Catholic University, Rome, 7-10 February 2025.
  • I was an invited speaker at a conference, ‘The Church, the Pastor, and Resonance in an Accelerated Age: Theological Conversations with Hartmut Rosa’, hosted by the Center for Barth Studies, Princeton Theological Seminary,23–24 September 2024. Details here.
